Over 125 Properties Up for Auction

Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston and Real Property Director David Hamlin announced details of the upcoming auction of tax foreclosure properties in Broome County.

The auction is Saturday, August 1st, at the Holiday Inn, Binghamton (2-8 Hawley Street) starting at 10:00 am.

Auction bidders must register between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM that morning.

“This year’s auction provides a little bit of something for everyone,” says Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.  “The auction is the perfect place for a young couple to find a starter home, or for someone to find a building to start a new business and it helps Broome County because these properties are put back on the tax rolls.”

This weekend, the County will auction off  nearly 130 properties.

“These auctions are great because it gives people a chance to own property and put their own personal touches on them during rehabilitation, which helps to clean up our neighborhoods,” says Real Property Director Dave Hamlin.

All properties in the auction are sold as is.

Last year, the County sold 120 properties, netting nearly $805,000.

Maps of each parcel are available for viewing in the office of the Broome County Real Property Tax Department, second floor in the County Office Building, 44 Hawley Street, Binghamton, NY, during regular business hours.
