Traffic Alterations on Old Vestal Road

Binghamton, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston joined Commissioner of Public Works Dan Schofield to announce the alteration of traffic on Old Vestal Road starting Wednesday, August 19th.

Starting at Murray Hill Road, and going approximately 400 feet west, traffic will be shifted and restricted to 10 foot lanes for both east and west bound traffic.

The change in traffic is necessary so that Joint Sewage Treatment plant owners, Binghamton and Johnson City, can complete a major demolition of the Joint Sewage Treatment plant in Vestal.

“We’ve talked to the Mayors of Binghamton and Johnson City and have determined that during the 30 day demotion of the existing plant, traffic needed to be altered for safety reasons as well as to help the construction company stage for demolition activity,” says Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.

The road closures are not expected to cause any disruption in B.C. Transit service or other businesses along Old Vestal Road.
