Part of Taft Ave. to Close for Drainage Repairs

Town of Union, NY – Broome County Executive Debbie Preston joined Commissioner of Public Works Dan Schofield to announce part of Taft Avenue in the Town of Union will close for about a week for drainage repairs.

Starting Monday, September 14th at 6:00 am, Taft Avenue will be closed from Ford Road to Jill Avenue.

Signs will be out and a detour will be in place routing traffic onto Ford Road, to Darlene Drive to Arnold Drive to Jill Avenue and back onto Taft Avenue.

“We understand this will be a minor inconvenience for some travelers,” says Commissioner of Public Works Dan Schofield.  “This detour is basically routing people around the block so crews can make some drainage repairs.”

The project is expected to be complete, and the road re-opened on Friday, September 18th at 5:00 pm, weather permitting.

Motorists are reminded they may encounter slight delays and are asked for their patience as the project is completed.
